Northeast storm expected to undergo bombogenesis with high winds

A powerful storm is expected to undergo bombogenesis off the Northeast coast, bringing dangerous winds and hazardous ocean conditions to the region. The rapid intensification of the low-pressure system is driven by a steep temperature contrast and powerful jet stream dynamics.

Wind gusts of 40 to 50 mph are possible along parts of the New England coast, including areas near Boston and New York City. As a cold front sweeps across the Northeast, higher elevations such as the Adirondacks, northern New England, and northern Maine could see 1 to 3 inches of snow.

The system is expected to move across the Northeast before shifting over the open Atlantic toward Canada, marking a transition from recent heat to a significant fall chill.
