NorthEast United FC defeats Shillong Lajong FC to reach Durand Cup semi-finals

NorthEast United FC secured a place in the semi-finals of the 135th Durand Cup after defeating Shillong Lajong FC 5-2 in a quarterfinal match held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Shillong.

Despite a rain-soaked first half where Shillong Lajong FC held a 2-1 lead following goals from Figo Syndai and Jota, NorthEast United FC staged a second-half comeback. Alaaeddine Ajaraie led the charge with a hat-trick, scoring in the 58th, 69th, and early stages of the match. Additional goals from Etyan Jesus Gonzalez Morales and Jithin MS completed the victory.

With this win, NorthEast United FC joins Mohun Bagan Super Giant, Sporting Club Delhi, and East Bengal FC in the tournament's final four. The victory keeps the club's hopes alive for a third consecutive Durand Cup title.
