Heat Advisories and Wave Sweep Across US, Canada and the UK

A series of heat advisories and a persistent heat wave are affecting large parts of North America and the United Kingdom. In the United States, the National Weather Service has placed most of central and southern Minnesota, parts of Alabama and the Denver metro area under heat advisories, warning of temperatures in the upper 90s °F and heat‑index values near 100 °F. Similar alerts are active in California, where a Heat Advisory runs from July 12‑14, and in the Midwest, where extreme‑heat warnings cover Goodhue, Rice and Wabasha counties.

Canada is also experiencing a moderate heat event, with Environment Canada issuing warnings for the Belleville‑Quinte West region and advising residents to monitor vulnerable populations. Meanwhile, the United Kingdom is enduring its third summer heatwave, with temperatures reaching 30‑31 °C across England and Wales and heat‑related health cautions issued for the public.

Across these regions, officials stress staying hydrated, limiting outdoor activity during peak heat, and checking on at‑risk individuals such as the elderly, children and pets. The widespread high‑pressure ridge driving the heat is expected to persist through the middle of the week before a cooler pattern may return later in the week.
