Northern Command Army Commander reviews Kashmir security grid

Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma, Army Commander of the Northern Command, has reviewed the counter-terrorism grid in South Kashmir to assess security scenarios and operational preparedness. The review emphasized the need for adaptability, precision, and synergy to ensure successful intelligence-driven operations and rapid responses to emerging challenges.

To counter a spike in terrorist activities, the Indian Army has deployed approximately 3,000 infantry troops and 500 Para Special Forces commandos to the rugged terrains and higher reaches of the Jammu region. This strategic reinforcement focuses on dense forests and mountainous areas in districts including Doda, Kathua, Poonch, Rajouri, and Kishtwar. Security forces, including the Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Central Reserve Police Force, are conducting coordinated operations in these inhospitable areas.

In addition to security operations, the Northern Command is focusing on community engagement and youth development. During an event at the Army Goodwill School in Pahalgam, Lt. Gen. Sharma highlighted the Army's commitment to nation-building and providing high-quality, technologically-oriented education to the youth in the region to support long-term stability and development.
