Northern Cyprus flight prices surge after ferry accident
Following the capsizing of a passenger ship traveling between Girne and Taşucu, flight ticket prices to Northern Cyprus have surged due to increased demand. The accident has disrupted maritime transport, forcing travelers to seek alternative routes.
On the Çukurova International Airport to Ercan Airport route, which typically lasts 45 to 50 minutes, some ticket prices have exceeded 35,000 TL. Reports indicate that dynamic pricing and last-minute booking rates have contributed to these spikes. Some travelers noted that prices previously around 6,000 TL have risen to as much as 22,000 TL.
Girne Mayor Murat Şenkul criticized the price hikes, stating that while increased demand is understandable, using an emergency situation for commercial gain is unacceptable. He highlighted that many individuals at Girne Port are facing urgent travel needs, such as those whose permits have expired and must return to their home countries.
