Northern Cyprus political parties announce candidates for December elections
Political parties in Northern Cyprus are finalizing candidate lists ahead of the early general elections scheduled for December 6.
Halkın Partisi (HP) has announced its parliamentary candidates following a Party Assembly meeting where election regulations and quota numbers were approved. HP leader Kudret Özersay stated the party is prepared with a strong lineup and is committed to establishing stable, long-term governments. Additionally, HP representatives met with the Cyprus Turkish Pharmacists Association (KTEB) to discuss healthcare systems, drug supply, and digital transformation such as e-prescriptions.
Meanwhile, the Ulusal Birlik Partisi (UBP) has released a list of 72 parliamentary candidates, with the remaining nine quota candidates to be determined at a convention on October 24. The UBP list has drawn scrutiny due to the inclusion of several individuals facing legal issues, including allegations of smuggling, misuse of office, and irregularities regarding work permits and diplomas.
