Northern Cyprus receives 1,000 beehives for rural development project

As part of the ‘Northern Cyprus Beekeeping Development Rural Development Project,’ 1,000 modern beehives and various beekeeping tools have been distributed to 170 producers in Northern Cyprus. The initiative is supported by the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) in collaboration with the Northern Cyprus Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources and the Northern Cyprus Beekeepers Union.

The first phase of the project includes the delivery of modern hives equipped with pollen traps, along with masks, bellows, and hand tools. TİKA President Abdullah Eren noted that the project will be completed in two stages, with a total of 2,000 hives to be delivered to producers.

Northern Cyprus Prime Minister Ünal Üstel stated that the goal is to reduce the burden on beekeepers while increasing production capacity and the quality of honey. He also mentioned that total support for the beekeeping sector is targeted to reach 23,815,000 TL this year.
