Northern Cyprus tourism faces transportation challenges
Northern Cyprus possesses significant tourism potential due to its Mediterranean climate and safe living conditions. The region has implemented a community-based security model, similar to the UK’s Neighbourhood Watch, to enhance public safety.
However, the tourism sector faces critical obstacles regarding transportation and international isolation. Historical limitations in infrastructure, such as inadequate roads and utilities, have impacted growth. The loss of Cyprus Turkish Airlines due to management issues and bureaucracy is cited as a major setback for connectivity, often forcing travelers to transit through Southern Cyprus.
