Northern Football Netball League reviews scoring error in Premier Division 3 Grand Final

The Northern Football Netball League (NFNL) has completed a review into the 2026 Premier Division 3 winter netball grand final between Hurstbridge and South Morang. A video review revealed that a goal scored by South Morang in the third quarter was missed, meaning scores were actually level at the end of the final quarter.

The error resulted in an incorrect official score sheet that recorded Hurstbridge as the winner by a single goal. Had the error not occurred, the match would have proceeded to overtime.

Due to NFNL bylaws regarding the timeframe for score reviews and protests, the league faced challenges in finding a resolution. Following discussions with both clubs, no consensus was reached on how to proceed. Consequently, Hurstbridge will retain the premiership title and earn promotion to Premier Division 2 next year. The NFNL has apologized for the error and announced a separate review of scoring procedures to prevent future occurrences.
