Northern German Campground Rates Rise for 2026 Summer Season

Campground operators in Schleswig‑Holstein, Mecklenburg‑Vorpommern and Lower Saxony have announced higher overnight fees for the 2026 summer season. At the Geesthacht site on the Elbe, the price for a 24‑hour stay rose to €18 from €7 in 2024, a more than doubling that the operator said was required to remain economically viable. In Hamburg, rates stayed at €35 per night, unchanged this year after occasional past increases.

On the island of Sylt, sites in Westerland and Rantum now charge €19.50‑€32.50, a rise of up to €1 compared with 2025. Other locations reporting hikes include Utersum on Föhr (+€1 to €30), St. Peter‑Ording (+€2 to €20 with electricity), and the Kappelner Nordhafen site (+5 % overall). Some sites, such as the Havelberge Camping Resort in Userin, raised prices by €2.30 to €33.50 for a two‑person motorhome, while the Caravanplatz “An der Rügenbrücke” in Stralsund now costs €22, up from €20 in 2024.

A few operators said their rates remain stable for 2026, indicating that price adjustments vary across the region but reflect broader increases in operating costs.
