Northern Iowa defeats North Dakota 24-17 in homecoming win
Northern Iowa secured a 24-17 victory over No. 4 ranked North Dakota during their homecoming game on Saturday. The Panthers' win was fueled by five forced turnovers and a touchdown scored by Andrew Price, who blocked a punt and recovered it in the end zone.
North Dakota struggled with ball security, losing three fumbles and two interceptions. Starting quarterback Jerry Kaminski was benched following three giveaways. Although North Dakota managed to close the gap to seven points in the fourth quarter via a touchdown run by backup quarterback Javance Tupou’ata-Johnson, the Panthers successfully ran out the clock to secure the win. This marks Northern Iowa's second consecutive victory against a top-5 Football Championship Subdivision opponent.
