Northern Ireland Assembly review finds no further evidence regarding Jeffrey Donaldson

A review conducted by the Northern Ireland Assembly has concluded that no relevant information was identified regarding potential further incidents of abuse or inappropriate behavior by former DUP leader Jeffrey Donaldson.

The investigation was launched on July 10 following Donaldson’s conviction at Newry Crown Court for 18 sex offences, including one count of rape, involving the abuse of two women between 1985 and 2008. The review, requested by Speaker Edwin Poots, sought to allow past or present MLAs, staff members, or users of Parliament Buildings to report any misconduct.

According to an Assembly spokesperson, the process included searches of Assembly Commission records and a dedicated contact route for reports. No reports were received through these channels, and internal searches yielded no relevant information. The spokesperson noted that the findings are “necessarily limited” and that the absence of records does not definitively prove that no other incidents occurred.
