Northern Ireland Athletes Compete Across Multiple Sports on Day Three of Commonwealth Games

On the third day of the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Team Northern Ireland has a packed programme that includes swimming heats, boxing round‑of‑16 bouts, bowls pairings and a netball pool match. Swimmers such as Grace Davison, Emily Hughes, Alana Burns‑Aiken, Adam Bradley and Barry McClements are racing in events that could secure places in evening semifinals and finals. Boxers Nicole Clyde and JP Hale face opponents from Ghana and England, while bowlers Shauna O’Neill, Chloe Wilson and Gary Wilson compete against Guernsey, Zambia and Norfolk Island. The netball side meets Malawi in its second group game, aiming for its first win.

Earlier sessions saw Northern Ireland swimmers build on a record‑breaking relay, with Matthew Hamilton posting a lifetime best in the 100 m butterfly and breaking Ulster senior and Irish junior records. Ellie McCartney, Lottie Cullen, Grace Davison, Danielle Hill and Daniel Wiffen also advanced to semifinals or finals, setting the stage for a busy evening of competition.
