Northern Ireland police arrest man suspected of rogue trader fraud

The Police Service Northern Ireland (PSNI) has arrested a man in his 50s in Newry on suspicion of fraud by false representation and the theft of diesel. The arrest is linked to reports of a rogue trader targeting a farm and potentially other properties in the Banbridge and Newry areas last month.

The operation was part of a coordinated ‘Day of Action’ aimed at disrupting cold-callers and rogue traders across the Armagh, Banbridge, and Craigavon districts. The initiative involved specialist police units and included similar operations by An Garda Síochána to disrupt travelling criminals.

In addition to the primary arrest, another man in his 50s was detained on suspicion of intimidating a witness. A 31-year-old man also appeared in court charged with multiple offences, including fraud, obtaining property by deception, and engaging in aggressive commercial practices.
