Northern Ireland Quad Bike‑Van Collision Leads to Father and Daughter Amputations
A collision between a Peugeot Partner van and a quad bike occurred on Edergole Road near Omagh, County Tyrone, on 25 July. Police in Northern Ireland arrived to find a man in his 40s and an eight‑year‑old girl seriously injured. The driver, later identified in court as Brannon Mullan, was arrested on suspicion of drink‑driving and causing grievous bodily injury.
Both victims required emergency amputation: the girl had her leg amputated below the knee, and her father had his foot amputated below the ankle. Mullan was charged with causing grievous bodily injury by dangerous driving, driving after consuming excess alcohol, and perverting the course of justice. He was denied bail at Enniskillen Magistrates' Court. The road was closed for investigation and later reopened.
