Northern Italian wood-furniture exports decline in first half of 2026
Data from the first half of 2026 indicates a contraction in wood-furniture exports across most major northern Italian regions. According to FederlegnoArredo and Istat, exports fell by 3.9% in Lombardy, 4.4% in Veneto, and 5.4% in Friuli Venezia Giulia compared to the same period in 2025.
Lombardy remains the national leader with 2.2 billion euros in exports, representing 29% of the national total. Despite the regional decline, the Monza and Brianza area saw a 3% increase, reaching 613 million euros, driven largely by a 40.6% surge in exports to the United Kingdom.
Key international markets showed mixed results. While exports to France, Germany, and the United States declined, growth was observed in the United Kingdom (+5.2%), Switzerland (+2.5%), and Spain (+4.2%).
