Northern lights forecast predicts visibility across several U.S. states
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has forecasted potential visibility of the northern lights due to geomagnetic storm conditions caused by high-speed solar winds from a coronal hole.
In the United States, visibility is expected in several northern states, including northern Washington, Idaho, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Parts of northern Wyoming may also see the display. Alaska maintains a high likelihood of aurora activity across much of the state.
Experts recommend viewing the aurora from dark, elevated locations away from city lights, ideally between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m. Visibility remains dependent on local weather conditions and cloud cover.
