Mexico and US border regions to adjust clocks on November 1

On Sunday, November 1, several regions in Mexico and the United States will transition from daylight saving time to standard time. In Mexico, the clock change applies exclusively to 33 border municipalities in states including Baja California, Chihuahua, Coahuila, Nuevo León, and Tamaulipas. This includes cities such as Ciudad Juárez, Tijuana, Mexicali, Nuevo Laredo, and Matamoros. The seasonal adjustment is maintained in these specific northern zones to align commercial activities with neighboring US states, despite the elimination of daylight saving time in most of Mexico in 2022.

In the United States, the transition will also occur on November 1 at 2:00 a.m. local time. In Florida, this shift occurs two days before the 2026 midterm elections scheduled for November 3. While the time change does not alter election dates or voting rules, officials note that voters should account for the new official time when visiting polling stations, which are scheduled to be open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. local time.
