Northern Middle School receives NJHS Chapter of Distinction Award

Northern Middle School in Calvert County has received the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) Chapter of Distinction Award. The recognition honors the chapter’s record of leadership, service, and community impact.

During the past year, NJHS members contributed more than 2,700 hours of community service. Their efforts supported various causes, including local schools, food pantries, youth programs, environmental initiatives, animal rescues, and hospitals. Additionally, members assembled and delivered 65 hygiene-filled “go bags” to Project ECHO.

In addition to service, chapter officers engaged in leadership development by planning meetings and participating in workshops focused on communication, advocacy, and teamwork. Ronn Nozoe, CEO of the National Principal Association, stated that the award celebrates students who “don’t just excel academically but actively strengthen their communities.”
