Northern Saudi Arabia hosts migratory falcon season
The northern regions of Saudi Arabia have entered the annual falcon hunting season, which begins in early October. Local falconers, known as 'Tawareeh', are actively monitoring migratory patterns and tracking flight paths across the expansive open spaces of the Northern Borders region.
Key locations for falconers include the Al-Hammad area east of Arar and the Al-Uwayqilah governorate. Experts note that the season is influenced by weather conditions and rainfall, which enhance the regional environment. Falconers move between various sites, such as Hazm al-Jalamid and Al-Arqat, depending on the movement of the birds.
The season also carries economic significance through the National Falcons Center auctions. Held from October 1 to November 30, these auctions involve the sale of captured falcons and include integrated services such as transportation and care. Participants are reminded to adhere to regulations governing hunting and the preservation of wildlife.
