Northern Vietnam prepares for seasonal air pollution surge

Northern Vietnam is approaching its annual air pollution season, which typically begins in October and lasts through March. Due to winter weather conditions that hinder the dispersion of pollutants, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment has issued directives to provincial and municipal authorities to strengthen air quality management.

With various infrastructure and urban development projects accelerating to meet economic growth targets, there is an increased risk of dust from excavation, land leveling, demolition, and the transport of construction materials. This activity poses a threat to air quality in urban areas, residential neighborhoods, and high-traffic corridors.

The Ministry has requested that local authorities increase inspections and supervision of dust control measures at construction sites. Project owners and contractors are required to strictly adhere to regulations regarding site shielding, material covering, water spraying, and the cleaning of construction vehicles to prevent the spread of dust into the surrounding environment.
