Vietnam weather shifts from intense heat to incoming cold air waves

Vietnam is experiencing significant weather transitions. Northern regions are currently facing intense heatwaves, with temperatures in areas like Hanoi and Phu Tho exceeding 35-37 degrees Celsius. However, meteorologists predict this heat will end as two successive waves of cold air arrive. The first weak wave is expected to impact the North starting the night of September 30, bringing scattered showers and a temperature drop of 2-4 degrees Celsius. A stronger second wave is forecasted for early October (around October 4-5), which could significantly lower temperatures, potentially bringing them below 20 degrees Celsius in mountainous areas and providing cooler, more pleasant conditions in cities like Hanoi.

In Central Vietnam, heatwaves are also persisting in provinces from Thanh Hoa to Da Nang and eastern Quang Ngai, though this is expected to subside by October 2. Meanwhile, Gia Lai province has been issued warnings for flash floods, landslides, and soil subsidence due to heavy convective rainfall and high soil moisture levels. In the South, including Ho Chi Minh City and the Central Highlands, weather remains characterized by scattered showers and thunderstorms, particularly in the afternoons and evenings.
