Northgard Battlegrounds enters Early Access

Northgard Battlegrounds, developed by Funday Games and Shiro Unlimited, has entered Early Access. Departing from the traditional real-time strategy mechanics of the original Northgard, this new title blends city-building, resource management, roguelite elements, and auto-battler mechanics.

Players manage Viking settlements in a post-Ragnarok world, focusing on strategic village layouts and economic development. Gameplay involves selecting cards categorized as Gifts, Blessings, or Runes to influence settlement growth and gain favor with gods. Combat is asynchronous, meaning players face data from other players rather than requiring simultaneous online presence.

The developers plan an Early Access period of at least six months, with intentions to add new clans, chieftains, buildings, units, and additional mechanics before the full 1.0 release.
