Northland secures first NPC final appearance after defeating Otago
Northland has become the first finalist in the New Zealand National Provincial Championship (NPC) following a 38-19 victory over Otago at Semenoff Stadium in Whangārei.
Despite Otago leading early in the match through tries from Kieran McClea and Christian Lio-Willie, Northland asserted dominance in the second half. Key contributions included two first-half tries from prop Marcel Renata, a try by Heremaia Murray, and a late intercept try by Nathan Salmon. Fly-half Rivez Reihana provided critical support, successfully converting seven out of seven penalty goals.
Northland will await the winner of the second semifinal between Canterbury and Taranaki to determine their opponent for the championship final.
