Northrop Grumman and Barrett Firearms partner on PGS grenade launcher
Northrop Grumman and Barrett Firearms Manufacturing have signed a teaming agreement for the serial production of the 25-mm Precision Grenadier System (PGS). Northrop Grumman is leading the development of the PGS system and its dedicated 25-mm ammunition, designed to meet the needs of both domestic and international customers.
Under the agreement, Barrett Firearms Manufacturing will handle serial production of the weapon and the integration of an inductive programmer, which allows soldiers to program the ammunition. Production of the PGS will take place at Barrett’s facility in Nashville, Tennessee. The grenade launcher features a 12-inch barrel and a 5-round magazine capacity, capable of firing programmable High Explosive Airburst (HEAB) rounds with selectable detonation modes.
