Northrop Grumman's IVEWS electronic warfare suite completes 500 flight hours

Northrop Grumman’s Integrated Viper Electronic Warfare Suite (IVEWS) has surpassed 500 flight hours and 300 test sorties. The system is designed to enhance the survivability of F-16 fighter jets by providing protection against multiple simultaneous radio-frequency threats from land, sea, and air.

Unlike traditional systems, IVEWS can detect, identify, and geolocate threats using a single aircraft, allowing pilots to react to dangers before they are targeted. The suite is engineered to work in tandem with the F-16’s AN/APG-83 Scalable Agile Beam Radar (SABR) without causing electromagnetic interference, a critical requirement for operating in contested environments.

As modern combat increasingly relies on the electromagnetic spectrum, the upgrade aims to ensure older platforms like the F-16 remain effective against advanced radar and electronic warfare systems.
