NorthShore Apparel opens garment manufacturing facility in Savelugu

President John Dramani Mahama has inaugurated the first phase of the NorthShore Apparel Ghana Limited garment manufacturing facility in Savelugu. The project represents a significant step toward industrialization and job creation in Ghana’s Northern Region.

NorthShore Apparel, incorporated in 2021, was supported by a $12 million financial package from the Ghana Export-Import Bank (GEXIM). This facility includes a 10-year structured agreement that replaced previous commercial debt from the Agricultural Development Bank. GEXIM also provided capacity-building support to ensure operational sustainability.

The manufacturing plant currently operates over 50 production lines and employs more than 2,300 workers, the majority of whom are women. The company plans to expand its workforce to 3,000 in the near term, with future expansion phases aiming to employ over 10,000 people. As a Free Zones enterprise, NorthShore is registered to export under the U.S. African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA).
