Northwestern Mutual North Office Tower nears completion in Milwaukee
The $500 million reconstruction of Northwestern Mutual’s 19-story North Office Tower in downtown Milwaukee is nearing completion. The project involves stripping the 1990 structure to its steel frame and concrete core to create a modernized facility. Once finished, the company plans to move nearly 2,000 employees from its Franklin campus to this downtown location, with a grand opening scheduled for 2027.
As part of the building’s amenities, a new New York-style Italian restaurant named Il Ponte is set to debut on September 15. Owned by Adam Siegel and Daria Aitken-Siegel, the eatery will feature housemade pastas, sandwiches, and breakfast options. The restaurant is located within the Northwestern Mutual North Building, which is connected to the company’s Tower & Commons via a skywalk.
Construction is being led by Gilbane Building Co. and CG Schmidt Inc. While the building’s main lobby, rooftop patio, and office spaces are nearing readiness, certain amenities such as the employee health center remain under construction.
