Norton Motorcycles to race historic 1953 Manx at Goodwood Revival

Norton Motorcycles has announced a partnership with Works Racing to compete in the Barry Sheene Memorial Trophy at the Goodwood Revival. The team will field a 1953 Norton Manx 30M ‘Long Stroke’ built to period specifications.

The motorcycle features a combination of historic design and modern replica parts to meet contemporary racing demands. Notably, the engine and the Featherbed wideline frame used for this machine have each previously won races at the Goodwood circuit, though they have never competed together until this event.

The Manx 30M is equipped with a 100 mm long-stroke single-cylinder engine, a four-speed laydown gearbox, and a Norton Roadholder fork. It produces approximately 46 hp at the rear wheel and weighs roughly 135 kg. The entry is part of Norton’s effort to honor its racing heritage while developing its new generation of motorcycles.
