Norway's parliament has launched public hearings to investigate links between the late American sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and various Norwegian politicians and diplomats. The inquiry, led by the Committee on Scrutiny and Constitutional Affairs, seeks to understand why warning signs regarding these connections were not detected and to address concerns regarding the culture and control within the Norwegian foreign service.

Among those summoned to testify are 11 current and former ministers, including Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, who served as foreign minister from 2005 to 2012. Støre has stated he had no relationship with Epstein. Former foreign minister Børge Brende is also testifying; he previously resigned as CEO of the World Economic Forum following revelations of his ties to Epstein. Brende has maintained he was unaware of Epstein's criminal history prior to their meeting in 2018.

The scandal has also focused on diplomat Mona Juul and her husband Terje Rød-Larsen. Investigations have looked into their personal and financial ties to Epstein, including a reported $10 million inheritance left to their children in Epstein's estate. Juul has since left her post as Norway's ambassador to Iraq and Jordan. The hearings follow the release of millions of Epstein-related documents by the US Department of Justice, which revealed connections to global elites.
