Norway carrot sales rise 25% following Erling Haaland exposure
Carrot sales in Norway increased by approximately 25% between July and mid-August, representing an additional 500 tons of product. This surge, dubbed the ‘Haaland Effect,’ follows sightings of Manchester City striker Erling Haaland consuming the vegetable.
Bama, a leading Norwegian fruit and vegetable distributor, has a commercial partnership with Haaland, who appeared in a campaign for the company. The increase in sales coincided with the World Cup, during which Haaland scored seven goals and saw a significant rise in his social media following.
While the correlation between the athlete's public habits and the sales spike is noted by agricultural authorities, experts suggest the growth is linked to both his personal habits and his official advertising role. Nutritionists noted that while carrots are rich in beta-carotene, which supports immunity and vision, they are not a singular solution for athletic performance.
