Norway climbs 12 FIFA ranking spots after World Cup run

Norway has achieved the largest jump in FIFA rankings following the 2026 World Cup in North America. The national team rose 12 positions, moving from 31st to 19th in the world rankings.

This surge follows Norway's historic run to the tournament's quarter-finals, marking their best performance in World Cup history. Their campaign included a 4-1 victory over Iraq, a 3-2 win against Senegal, and a 2-1 comeback victory against Ivory Coast. In the round of 16, Norway defeated Brazil 2-1, fueled by two goals from Erling Haaland. Their journey concluded in the quarter-finals with a 1-2 loss to England in extra time.

Other nations also saw ranking improvements during the tournament, including Ghana, which rose eight positions to 65th, and Paraguay, which climbed seven spots to 34th.
