Norway defeats Italian women's curling team at European Championships
The Italian women's national curling team suffered a narrow 5-4 defeat against Norway in their opening match at the 2026 European Curling Championships in Ostrava.
Led by skip Giulia Zardini Lacedelli, the Italian squad—including Marta Lo Deserto, Elena Antonia Mathis, and Rachele Scalesse—experienced a fluctuating match. After a scoreless start, Italy took a temporary lead in the seventh end by scoring three points, bringing the score to 4-3. However, Norway responded in the eighth end to reclaim the lead. A final attempt by Zardini Lacedelli to remove Norway's last stone was unsuccessful, sealing the victory for the Scandinavian side.
Italy's next scheduled match in the tournament is against the Czech Republic.
