A new survey conducted by YouGov on behalf of battery manufacturer Varta reveals that only 32 percent of Norwegians believe their households could manage for a week or longer during a crisis involving the loss of water and electricity.

While 60 percent of the 1,003 participants were aware of the Norwegian government's recommendation to be prepared for one week of self-sufficiency, there is a gap between awareness and practical preparation. Haakon Stenbeck, Sales Manager for Varta in Norway, noted that the primary challenge is moving from knowing what to do to actually taking action.

Regarding specific supplies, 73 percent of respondents have a working flashlight or headlamp, 70 percent have non-refrigerated food, and 64 percent possess first aid kits. Additionally, 52 percent can cook without electricity, 49 percent have stored drinking water, and 26 percent have a battery or crank radio.
