Norway expands Nyt Norge label to include seafood
The Nyt Norge labeling scheme is being expanded to include seafood, allowing Norwegian consumers to more easily identify domestic products in retail stores. The expansion was officially marked by Fisheries and Ocean Minister Marianne Sivertsen Næss during Arendalsuka, alongside representatives from the seafood, agriculture, and retail industries.
In addition to the labeling expansion, Minister Sivertsen Næss introduced a new roadmap designed to strengthen the role of seafood in sustainability, food systems, and food security. The roadmap provides a comprehensive overview of how the aquatic food system contributes to national food preparedness, particularly in light of geopolitical uncertainty and climate change. The initiative aims to highlight the importance of marine resources for maintaining food availability, quality, and safety across Norway.
