Norway food supply faces potential shortages amid looming strike

A potential strike by workers in the milling and animal feed sectors in Norway could lead to shortages of flour, bread, and livestock feed. Negotiations between the Norwegian Food and Grocery Workers' Union and NHO Food and Drink are scheduled to continue until midnight at the National Mediator's office.

If an agreement is not reached, 238 members are set to begin striking on Tuesday morning, with the possibility of the action escalating to 577 members. The strike would impact critical links in the food supply chain, including Felleskjøpet Agri, Norway’s largest supplier of animal feed, and Norgesmøllene.

A prolonged conflict could result in reduced availability of flour and grain products in stores, delivery issues for bakeries, and a lack of feed for cattle, pigs, and poultry.
