Norway football squad juggles club changes and golf surge ahead of World Cup

Half of Norway’s 26‑man World Cup roster have taken on new club coaches ahead of the upcoming season, and several players, including goalkeeper Ørjan Nyland, are currently without a club. Experts say frequent coaching changes are normal for the players, though adaptation is required.

During their pre‑tournament stay, the squad embraced golf as a mental break. Golf stars Viktor Hovland and Kristoffer Reitan joined the team at Greenover Resort, where the players enjoyed two full courses. Nyland noted, “It gives a free slot where you can drop all thoughts,” and Reitan added that the players are “completely wild after golf.” The team maintained discipline despite the relaxed atmosphere, using golf to stay focused ahead of the tournament.
