Norway hosts public health initiatives in Herøy and Oslo
Norway is hosting various health-focused initiatives, including Public Health Week in Herøy and the Multicultural Health Festival in Oslo.
In Herøy, scheduled from September 7 to 13, the municipality will host events such as a lecture on menopause by Dr. Marianne Natvik, yoga sessions, and the opening of a new shelter at Storvatnet to promote outdoor activity and community well-being.
In Oslo, the eighth annual Multicultural Health Festival will take place on September 4 and 5. The festival focuses on mental health and equal access to healthcare for people from diverse cultural backgrounds. This follows an IMDi report indicating that while immigrants rate their general quality of life similarly to the general population, they report higher levels of mental health struggles. Additionally, an FHI report noted that refugees with shorter residency in Norway utilize mental health services significantly less than other groups, potentially due to language barriers, cultural taboos, or service accessibility issues.
