Norway into World Cup last 16 after Haaland's winner vs Ivory Coast
Norway defeated Ivory Coast 2‑1 in the round of 32 at the 2026 FIFA World Cup held in Dallas, Texas, on 1 June. Antonio Nusa gave Norway an early lead in the 38th minute, while Ivory Coast equalised through Ahmed Diarra in the 29th minute of the second half. Erling Haaland scored the decisive goal in the 41st minute of the second half, his fifth tournament goal, narrowing the gap with Lionel Messi for the top scorer race. Goalkeeper Ørjan Nyland made a late save to preserve the win.
The victory puts Norway into the round of 16, where they will meet Brazil, led by Vinícius Júnior, on 6 June in New Jersey.
