Norway leads global trends in AI service payments

A study by the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism at Oxford University reveals that Norway has the highest rate of AI service payments among the nine countries surveyed. Approximately 26 percent of the Norwegian population pays for at least one AI service, whether privately or through work or school, compared to an average of 18 percent across the studied nations.

Regarding journalism, the study highlights a divide in public sentiment. While some Norwegians believe AI use in news media could improve society, only 14 percent are comfortable with news produced exclusively by artificial intelligence. In contrast, 66 percent of respondents expressed comfort with news created solely by journalists.

Research indicates that individuals with higher levels of AI knowledge tend to be more skeptical of AI-generated news. Specifically, 39 percent of those with high AI literacy scores reported being very uncomfortable with news made entirely by AI, compared to 20 percent of those with lower scores.
