Norway media report: Local newspapers grow digitally
Data from Mediebedriftenes Landsforening (MBL) for the second quarter shows that while overall newspaper readership in Norway has decreased by 2.7 percentage points compared to last year, local newspapers are experiencing growth. Specifically, local news outlets have seen a 9.9 percent increase in digital coverage.
Most Norwegians consume news daily, primarily through digital platforms. Approximately 69 percent of the population visits a news website daily, with 77 percent accessing news via mobile devices. In contrast, 21 percent read print newspapers, and 4 percent prefer e-newspapers.
In terms of individual outlets, VG is the most popular website, reaching 1.9 million people daily, followed by NRK with 1.3 million and TV 2 with 859,000. Among media groups, Schibsted leads with 2.8 million daily readers across its platforms, followed by DIAR, Amedia, and Aller Media.
