Norway offers cycling tours and scenic rail journeys

Norway offers diverse travel experiences ranging from active cycling expeditions to scenic rail journeys through its mountainous and fjord landscapes.

Up Norway has announced a seven-day cycling journey scheduled for May 2027. The tour, developed in collaboration with Uteguiden, will take a small group of 12 intermediate to experienced cyclists through the Sunnmøre Alps and the UNESCO-listed Geirangerfjord. Starting and ending in Ålesund, the route covers approximately 202 miles with a total elevation gain of 15,750 feet.

For those preferring rail travel, the Bergen Line provides a major connection from Bergen to Oslo, traversing the Hardangervidda plateau. This route passes through the winter sports hub of Voss and the remote location of Finse, which is notable for its connection to the filming locations of ‘Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back’.
