Norway oil and gas service strike ends after month-long dispute
The strike involving hundreds of workers in the Norwegian oil and gas onshore service sector has concluded following a 17-hour mandatory mediation session between Fellesforbundet and NHO Service og Handel. The dispute, which began on September 25, affected accommodation, catering, and cleaning services at several Equinor facilities, including Mongstad, Hammerfest, Tjeldbergodden, Kollsnes, and Kårstø.
The new agreement includes a total hourly wage increase of 10.50 NOK, effective from June 1, 2026. This consists of a general increase of 6.50 NOK, a low-wage supplement of 4.00 NOK, and an increase of 1.50 NOK for those with trade certificates. For skilled workers, the minimum wage increase will be 12.00 NOK per hour.
Additionally, the parties agreed that starting July 1, 2027, employers will advance sick pay, care leave pay, and parental leave pay for employees who have been continuously employed for at least ten months.
