Norway oil and gas service workers begin strike

A strike involving 205 employees in Norway's onshore oil and gas sector commenced Friday morning following a breakdown in mediation between the Fellesforbundet union and NHO Service og Handel. The dispute concerns the land services agreement, which covers workers responsible for catering, accommodation, and cleaning services.

Negotiation leader Gard Hofsvang stated that members are seeking real wage increases to improve purchasing power, noting that these workers currently hold some of the lowest wages in the country. The union is also demanding the advance payment of sick pay.

The strike affects employees at Coor Cleaning Catering and Property across five locations: Tjeldbergodden, Hammerfest, Kollsnes, Kårstø, and Mongstad.
