Norway orders three additional WiSENT 2 recovery vehicles from FFG

The Norwegian Defence Material Agency (NDMA) has ordered three additional WiSENT 2 Armoured Recovery Vehicles (ARV) from the German company FFG Flensburger Fahrzeugbau Gesellschaft mbH. This follow-on procurement, signed on 18 September 2026, is based on existing contract options.

This new order brings Norway's total procurement of WiSENT 2 vehicles to 12, with eight units already delivered to the Norwegian Armed Forces. The WiSENT 2 is a modular platform built on the Leopard 2 main battle tank chassis, designed to support heavy combat vehicles with a crane capacity of up to 32 tonnes and an integrated Combat Recovery System.

The acquisition aims to modernize Norway's support fleet, replacing aging Bergepanzer 2 vehicles. This modernization coincides with Norway's transition to new Leopard 2A8 main battle tanks. Additionally, the procurement helps replenish domestic stocks following Norway's decision to transfer two existing recovery vehicles to Ukraine.
