Norway protests for Palestine spark political controversy
Demonstrations scheduled for October 7 in Oslo and Bergen to support the Palestinian resistance movement have sparked significant controversy in Norway. Organizers from the Solidarity Network report that Facebook has censored their event pages and social media presence.
The protests, which include participation from various organizations such as Rød Ungdom and several Palestinian and African groups, have faced criticism from various media outlets and political figures. Some critics, including the youth wing of the Socialist Left Party (Sosialistisk Ungdom), have withdrawn their support, characterizing the event as a demonstration in support of Hamas.
In response to the planned action, Torkel Brekke, a professor at MF Vitenskapelig Høyskole, has publicly criticized the demonstrations, stating that the involvement of certain actors makes the event an expression of antisemitism.
