Norway reports over 94 percent survival rate for first heart attacks
New national quality indicators in Norway show that more than 94 percent of patients survive 30 days after being hospitalized for their first heart attack. The data indicates a gradual improvement in survival rates across all four health regions in the country.
Ulrich Spreng, Director of Health at Helse Sør-Øst, stated that the results suggest patients receive high-quality, equitable treatment regardless of their geographic location. The indicators measure the entire chain of care, including acute response, diagnosis, hospital treatment, and initial follow-up after discharge.
While Norway maintains high survival rates compared to other nations, health officials emphasize that systematic work will continue to improve patient health and quality of life following these cardiac events.
