Norway road closures planned for maintenance and rock blasting
Several road closures are planned in Norway due to infrastructure maintenance and safety operations.
On Fv. 55, the section between Riksdalen and Ljotebø will undergo nightly closures from August 24 to September 11. Between 22:00 and 06:00, the road will be closed to allow for the replacement of old culverts. Vestland fylkeskommune noted that the work must be completed before upcoming asphalt paving to avoid future disruptions. Because the road is too narrow for detours, traffic will be manually directed during the day, and some shorter daytime closures may occur.
Additionally, Rv. 85 in Gullesfjordbotn faces a temporary closure this Thursday between 11:00 and 13:00. Statens vegvesen plans to blast loose rock blocks, some weighing up to 40 tons, located 450 meters above the road. The operation requires helicopter transport for equipment, meaning the exact timing depends on weather conditions. To prevent travel disruptions, the airport bus to Evenes will be permitted to pass through during the scheduled window.
