Norway ships 300 kg fish, 116 kg cheese and 6,000 oranges to its World Cup squad in North Carolina
Ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Norway sent a dedicated food shipment to its national football team’s training camp in Greensboro, North Carolina. The cargo included more than 300 kg of Atlantic salmon and other white fish, 116 kg of Norway’s caramelised brown cheese (brunost), and about 6,000 oranges. Veteran chefs Aron Espeland and Eirik Tufte were tasked with preparing four daily meals for a squad of over 60 players, aiming to preserve a familiar diet and avoid performance‑impacting digestive disruptions.
Espeland told reporters, "Bringing half a ton of fish to the US is not easy, but we wanted to give the players the best Norwegian ingredients during this important tournament." Norway’s effort follows its return to the World Cup after a 28‑year absence, with the food supply intended to help the team feel at home and maintain optimal focus and recovery throughout the competition.
