Norway unemployment rate remains stable at 4.5 percent in August
Norway's unemployment rate remained unchanged at 4.5 percent in August, according to data from Statistics Norway (SSB). This figure represents 136,000 unemployed individuals and is consistent with the levels seen in the previous three months.
While the overall rate is 0.1 percentage points lower than in January 2026, there has been a diverging trend between genders. Unemployment among women has increased by 0.2 percentage points since January, whereas unemployment among men has decreased by 0.5 percentage points during the same period.
Employment levels remained relatively stable compared to the previous quarter, though the proportion of employed persons is 0.3 percentage points higher than in January. Notably, employment has seen an increase among those under the age of 25 throughout 2026.
